SOLVED Opening Apple Works in OS 10.13

Is it possible to open my old Apple Works documents on my 2011 iMac running OS 13? It includes MS Word for Mac 2011.

Hello,

It depends on which version of AppleWorks the documents were created with. Older versions of Pages/Numbers were able to open them directly, but the more recent versions cannot. Some folks have success with LibreOffice.

-What kind of documents are they - text, spreadsheets, drawings, etc?
-What is/are the extension(s) of the AppleWorks files.

AppleWorks6 primarily. They are mostly text with .cwk suffex.

Thanks again, Cory. With LibreOffice running on my 2011 iMac (OS 10.13) I can now read a pile of old messages and such originally written in AppleWorks.
