open office will not install

open office will not install donwloaded via apple site and it tells me needs X11 when i try to isntall X11 it tells me its already install.. this sucks

Try NeoOffice instead. It's OpenOffice without the dependency on X11.

I second NeoOffice. I changed from OpenOffice to NeoOffice after X11 became corrupt and it took forever for me to find someone who understood that it was a corrupt X11 and not me that was at fault. Although I now have a healthy X11 installed on my mac, I decided that OpenOffice.org was only a great app if used on my PC alone ....

NeoOffice 2.1 has just been released BTW.
