Have an issue with my Apple Watch after updating to watchOS 9.4. The auto-launch audio apps feature has stopped working.

By the way, I believe the watch should automatically launch the Now Playing app instead of the specific audio app.

Has anyone else encountered this problem or have any suggestions for a fix? Thanks for help.

If the "Now Playing" feature on your Apple Watch is not working after updating to watchOS 9.4, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue. Here are some suggestions:

Steps to Fix the "Now Playing" Feature

  1. Check Settings on Your Apple Watch:
    • Enable Auto-Launch Audio Apps:
      • Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
      • Go to General > Wake Screen.
      • Scroll down and make sure Auto-Launch Audio Apps is turned on.
    • Enable Now Playing:
      • Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
      • Go to Display & Brightness.
      • Ensure Show App is set to Always On or On Tap.
  2. Check Settings on Your iPhone:
    • Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
    • Go to General > Wake Screen.
    • Make sure Auto-Launch Audio Apps is enabled.
  3. Restart Both Devices:
    • Restart both your Apple Watch and iPhone.
    • Apple Watch: Press and hold the side button until you see the power off slider. Drag the slider, and once the watch is off, press and hold the side button again until the Apple logo appears.
    • iPhone: Press and hold the side button and either volume button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider, and once the phone is off, press and hold the side button again until the Apple logo appears.
  4. Reset Sync Data:
    • Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
    • Go to General > Reset > Reset Sync Data.
  5. Check for App Updates:
    • Ensure all your apps are up-to-date, including the Music app and any third-party audio apps.
    • Open the App Store on your iPhone, go to Updates, and update all available apps.
  6. Unpair and Re-pair Your Apple Watch:
    • Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
    • Go to All Watches, tap the info button next to your watch, and tap Unpair Apple Watch.
    • Follow the prompts to unpair, and then re-pair your watch.

Additional Considerations

  • Check Specific App Settings:
    • Some third-party audio apps might have specific settings for integration with the Apple Watch. Open the app on your iPhone and look for any settings related to Apple Watch.
  • Contact Apple Support:
    • If the problem persists, contact Apple Support for further assistance. They can help diagnose any deeper software issues or provide additional troubleshooting steps.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue with the "Now Playing" feature on your Apple Watch.
