Not detecting portable disk via usb

  • The disk has photographs and has been running ok with no troubles for quite a few months.
  • I have had a major problem with the hard drive and Apple have cleared the disk (after a backup) and I have reloaded some of my data back on.
  • Other USB drives are running ok.
  • When I remove the USB from the computer it doesn't detect it has been removed.
  • I have tried different ports.
  • I have tried the drive on my tablet and was ok.
  • macOS 10.12.5 Sierra
