No sound on Quick Time audio file

Hello,

Recently, I attended a Webinar. I wanted to record it, so I recorded (I thought) several Quick Time files. When I tried to play them, I could see that there was, for example, a 33:09 minute file, when I selected the play button, the time advanced as if it was playing, but there was no sound. Any suggestions? If nothing was recorded at all, would there be files showing minutes, with nothing in them?
