SOLVED No disc icons on desktop, OS 10.6

I've got a 2011 iMac partitioned to run OS 10.13 in one, and 10.6 in the other. There are no icons for the two discs (each partition) on the desktop of the 10.6 system. Also, when I select startup disc from system preferences in the 10.6 partition, it only shows the icon for the disc partition running the 10.6 operating system, not the one running 10.13.
On the other hand, on the 10.13 desktop there are two icons, one for each partitioned disc. And I can choose either partition to restart from the 10.13 system preferences. Everything there seems normal.
Any suggestions to fix the10.6 desktop?

Hello,

From the menu bar in Finder, try: Finder > Preferences > General > check Hard Disks and see if they appear.
