A new version of the excellent media player VLC has been released. It is V3.0.0, and one can get it form here:

https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

Note that this new version requires OS 10.7 or later. The link I provided contains links for downloading earlier versions that work with all prior versions of Mac OS X.
