Gentlemen ,
I am new to this forum and hope am posting this in the correct section .
I erased my MacBook Pro and I can’t reinstall the OS. It gets stuck in activation LOCK .
Here’s what I have tried so far :
1. I don’t have access to my iCloud email , can’t reset password since no access to the email or to the phone number on the account .
2. I have contacted Apple support several times , by phone and by emails with proof of purchase from Apple.com, plus the credit card used to pay for the Mac Plus my state ID , this is how Apple replied saying :
We are unable to complete your request to remove Activation Lock.
We weren’t able to complete your request to remove Activation Lock for this device.

Product: MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
Case ID:

We won’t be able to review additional requests or documentation associated with this device.
REALLY!!!

3. I have spend long hours talking with Apple customer support , I even went to Apple Store ,
Showed them proof of purchase yet No one I mean no one is willing to remove the activation lock .
This is what they kept on saying : we do this for for your protection when gets stolen.

My question :
What options do I have ? I did ask Apple support to raise the support ticket up to some sort of a higher supervisor etc , no such service !
Any guidance will be appreciated

Hi Bill,

Unfortunately the 2019 MacBook Pro has the T2 security chip in it and the only way to turn off the activation lock is to enter the AppleID and password of the account that had FindMy enabled before you erased it.

Apple is unable to do anything even with Proof of Purchasing the MacBook Pro.

You shouldn't need to reset the password, you just need to know it and enter it at the Activation Lock screen.

Thank you MacsBug for the prompt reply .
The issue here is with both the password AND the phone number .
I can’t remember the password
I have no access to the registered email
I have no access to the phone number to password reset .
Both The phone SIM card and the email were deactivated by my employer outside USA right after my resignation . Basically stuck !

HI Bill,

Your only option then would be to contact the IT department of your old company and see if they can temporarily reissue you the email address.

If they are unable to do that then you have an awesome machine that is basically a doorstop at this point.

Thanks Macsbug for the follow up .
This thing is taking a weird turn,
Following your advise , Now I have access to the email and Apple ID along with two way iCloud authentication using my US number .
Guess what ? The Mac is not even listed in my find . It seems the activation lock is random .
I did post this on THE Official support Apple community website and sure enough I received this strange reply.
We have removed your post ( MacBook Pro Lock) because it contained either feedback or a feature request that was not constructive . We have included a copy of your original post .

The thing is this : what is not constructive or destructive about presenting my case as first owner buying a Mac directly from Apple.com ? asking Apple to remove the lock AFTER showing them their own official receipt as a proof of purchase along with my state ID and the AX card used to purchase it ?
I don’t understand how Apple support reasons after spending hours showing them more than one proof by sharing my iPhone screen with them ?

Hi Bill,

Even though Find My is how you turn on activation lock, Find My needs to have an OS on the drive and you need to be signed into your AppleID in order for the MacBook Pro to be located using Find My.

Now that you have access to the email, were you able to disable Activation Lock?

Hi Macs,
No it can't be disabled; Reason/s: I logged into the account using another laptop. Since Mac has no OS on the drive AND won't boot pass the activation lock.
You're correct, Find My says no devices, when you logged in to the Mac using the ID your devices will appear here.
But how? No boot No OS .

Hi Bill,

It sounds like you have access to another Mac. You can use Apple Configurator to Restore the 2019 MBP. After you do the restore, you can then boot the 2019 and you will get prompted to enter the AppleID and password. Once you do the lock is turned off.
