I keep on getting notifications of updates that are addressed to my old email address that I haven't used for years.
How do I delete this email?

Need some more information:

1. What EMail program are you using?

2. What exact Mac OS are you running?

3. When you say "old email address", is that an Email addressed "associated" with your ISP, or is it "connected" with gmail.com, hotmail.com, or yahoo.com? For example, I have two "primary" EMail addresses associated with my ISP, Comcast, and I access them through Outlook 2016. One of them is the one I use for about 98% of any correspondence I wish to receive. It is also the address I provide to banks, insurance companies, etc. I also have EMail "accounts" with gmail, hotmail, and yahoo. However, I only access them through my browser.

How are you accessing Shaw.com, and how did you access Telus.net?

I just typed Shaw.com into the address line of Google Chrome, and I got this:

https://shaw.com/

For Telus.net, I got this:

https://mytelus.telus.com/

I guess you can have those EMail "addresses" set up with an EMial client like Apple's Mail program, or Outlook 2016. So that is what we need to know.

I am using Shaw as my web provider and for email, likewise I used Telus until I made the switch.

Again, for Shaw.com, how are you viewing those EMails? Do you have Shaw.com setup with a separate EMail program, like Appel's Mail, or Outlook 2016, or are you using a browser to get to your EMails on Shaw.com? Same question for Telus.net.

Shaw is my provider to access the internet and for my emails, Telus was the same. Apple still have my Telus email address on their books, this is what I want to terminate.

OK, now I see. This link is about Shaw as your ISP:

https://www.shaw.ca/store/

And this is one site for Telus:

https://www.telus.com/en/bc/internet/

Neither of those, by the way, are available in the Seattle area. Also, that link for Telus shows British Columbia, Canada as the "area". Is that where you are located?

Now, this link seems to be an explanation about "managing" EMail addresses on Apple's site:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201356

Finally, regarding Shaw as your ISP< how exactly do you get your EMail? For Comcast (my ISP), I set up Outlook 2016 with the various "Comcast-related" parameters for my 2 Comcast EMail addresses, so I just launch Outlook 2016 to check my Comcast EMail. I can also do it at Comcast's site, but I prefer to use Outlook 2016. For my EMail "accounts" on gmail (google) and hotmail (Microsoft), I access those through my web browser (Google Chrome in my case).

If you were using your old Telus email address as your Apple ID then refer to honestone's support.apple.com link, that should sort out the issue.
