my docs and iCloud

Macbook Pro, OS 10.11.6. When I click system prefs < iCloud < iCloud Drive < options, there is no Desktop & Documnets folder option or check box. How to do get it to display as an option? The other expected options do display.

Hello and welcome.

Mac OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan doesn't support the Desktop & Documents function of iCloud Drive. You would need to upgrade to macOS Sierra 10.12.5.
