Thanks Kaveman. I tried deleting and then adding from System Preferences. That did not solve the problem of not being able to scan. So then I tried uninstalling the HP Driver altogether. Now I don't seem to be able to re-install the driver. Thanks anyway...
Thanks for your input. I am not sure if I am using Image Capture. There is a Documents option and an Image Option. Neither one of them work. The scanner worked great right up until I upgraded to Mountain Lion (OS X) ever since then, I have not been able to scan although everything else on the printer works great.
