Missing toolbar in MS Word 2008

Im running mountain lion on a 15" macbook pro. When I open Word 2008 the toolbar at the bottom of the window is completely missing. The window that shows page numbers, etc. Googled it and saw some references to the problem, but no fix mentioned. Anyone have the problem and know the cure?

1. Quit Word 2008
2. Go to Applications/Utilities and open Terminal
3. Paste the bold command below at the $ prompt:
4. defaults write com.microsoft.Word 2008\\Toolbars\\Show_HIToolbar -boolean TRUE
5. Press Return and then quit with Command Q
