New to mac...

I have a MacBook Pro 17" running 10.4.6

Also...a microsoft wireless router and Hitachi cable modem...Cox Cable. Base station is a PC, running a PC notebook wirelessly. Everything is online...except my mac.

Network is WEP enabled.

Mac shows the network in the menu but no dice.

Have tried the following:
Reconfigure it by selecting the network...nothing.
Create Network/enable encryption etc. ...nothing
Open Internet Connect...no signal..and when selecting the network, it says Base Station ID:Not available

Tried to 'rob' the address of the DHCP automatic assignment from the PC and enter it with a manual DHCP connection...nothing.

Any ideas here?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

have you tried using the Network Assistant ?

have you tried setting it up with no WEP ? Will it connect ?

Ric,

I am happy to try it without the encryption, but it seems that there is something very major that I am missing here. I will report my progress. I am not getting any signal, as far as I can tell...but the other laptop gets an "excellent" signal.

I started with the Network Assistant and have tried that again...to no avail.

Hi there Christopher,

can you let me have either a screengrab or the settings that you have 'set up' on the PC and I'll see what I can see !

Feel free to email them to me, rather than post them here.

regards

Ric
