Medium Write Error

I am getting a medium write error every time I try and copy photos to a 52x CD-R disc. I understand that it can be rectified by reducing burn speed - how do I do this? It's supposed to be in iPhoto Preferences, but I cannot locate where to change it?

Its in the popup on the last Dialogue before your write the disk. No Preference.

There are lots of good CD-Rs out there that work with the Mac, not sure I'd trust my Photos to one that reports an Error of any kind.
