What exact Mac model do you have?

What exact Mac OS are you using?

Do you have a backup?

10.9.5 means the last version of Yosemite. Need the exact model of your iMac.

Also, what about backups?

10.9.5 is actually the last version of Mavericks. ;)

Ray - honestone meant do you have an external hard drive that is using Time Machine or another means of making a backup of all of your data and applications from your internal hard drive.

-Who are the two email providers - i.e. @gmail.com @ comcast.net @hotmail.com etc.?
-Did this issue just start happening?

Oops! Thanks for the correction, Cory! I actually thought I had made a mistake after I turned off my machine and went to work out.

Also, Cory is correct in asking if the issue just started happening. If and when it started, did you do any kind of OS upgrade right before it started happening?

where do I find the model number and why does that matter?

Go to the Apple Menu, select "About This Mac...". The screen that appears will have the name of your machine. For example, as I am typing this, when I do that, it says "Mac Mini (Late 2012)". Yours should say something like "iMac (year of the model)". If you click "Systems Report", the next screen will contain the name of the model name, and the model identifier. Sometimes the model identifier is very helpful. For me, the Model name is (as expected) "Mac mini", and the Model Identifier is "
Macmini6,2".

The exact Mac model is sometimes relevant for issues, as there are instances where the machine contributes to the issue. I suspect not in your case, but it can't hurt if you can provide it.
