Every now and then Mail seems to forget one of my account passwords and pops up a box asking for it.

I've about 6 accounts that it automatically checks every 15 minutes or so but sometimes when I come to the computer i find that it's popped up this password box and has stopped collecting mail until I enter it again.

I obviously tell it to remember the password but a week later it's forgotten it again

Any ideas?

Regards

Mike

Same problem; I have 8 sub accounts so it can get very frustrating when over the course of 30-40 mins, I get asked maybe 5 or 6 times to re-enter my passwords.

This message comes up:- "pop3.xtra.co.nz has rejected your password, please re-enter your password or sign out". I have tried resetting preferences but has not helped; have asked my broadband provider 3 or 4 times and they always come back with "It's a Mac problem"

Any help would be fantastic, Cheers.

Its not its and xtra problem. Its not that the Mac as forgotten its that xtra is rejecting the good password, then often we retype it wrong and the problem cascades.

Solution: Click cancel and DONT enter a password. Take all Accounts offline and then back online problem cleared, (normally).

Think about it folks, these passwords are stored in your keychain, you can open your keychain and guess what the Mac knows the passwords, if the Mac was loosing entries from your secure keychain all hell would break loose.
