Mail App shutting down

I have a Mac OS 10.11.1 using Apple mail. When I select a certain message in my junk folder, the mail app shuts down.
My provider is TWC (roadrunner).
Any suggestions?

El Capitan is up to version 10.11.4. You should download and install that first, to see if it resolves the issue. You can get the OS 10.11.4 Combo Updater from here:

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1869?locale=en_US

When you apply the Combo Updater, it actually includes the stuff from the OS 10.11.2, 10.11.3, and 1.11.4 stand alone updates.

Thanks for the info. I ended up trashing my entire junk mail folder.
