Macbook Pro won't startup

Hey everyone. Have a problem i'm hoping you guys may have some answers to. My macbook won't boot. It turns on with a load bar at the bottom, the load icon, and the apple one above it. The load bar will get to a miniscule progress and then the laptop will shut off. The night before this problem started, I ran a verify and repair permissions and this was the first time I had restarted my computer since then. I had also just dled cocktail and cleared some cache that I had never messed with before, Not sure if either of those two things are related to the problem. I reset pram and smc to no avail. Any ideas?

I'm running maverick and before this my computer was getting noticeably slower.

Can you boot into safe mode? If not try using the install disks.

Did it come pre-installed with mavericks or you did an upgrade? May be the OS is the problem. Try safe boot and again run repair permissions. You may also give it a fresh installation.
