Macbook pro wont start up

PLease help somebody,,,,,,I cannot start up my macbook pro. When I startit I get the start up noise ,the spinning wheel and then , instead of my desktop...Just a black screen.It sounds as tho it is on but the screen is off HELP

try adjusting the brightness of ur mac. that's because when the brightness setting is on it's lowest, the screen projects nothing.

give it a try and tell us if it works.

Well done percylovesmac The brightness on my iMac C2D doesn't allow the screen to go completely black so I wouldn't have thought to recommend that fix
