macbook pro display scramble and boot failure

Hi -
new to this forum but would grateful for feedback

i clicked on an effect in photobooth and this immediately scrambled my whole screen into diamond shaped patterns. I had to shutdown via power button as it froze all my escape options. On start up I get the same diamond shaped scramble under which Apple logo displays and the timer circle starts. The screen then hangs in a clean blue ( no daimonds). I've run repair disk and permissions from install disk and run hardware test. Disk repaired successfully. permissions repaired successfully and hardware all o.k. I've restarted but still have same issue.

Any ideas as to what I can do would be appreciated.

I'm running a dual core 15" macbook pro in osx 10.4.10

I just experienced the same issue with my MacBook Pro. can you tell me how you resolved the problem?

which effect was it ? Does it only happen on one effect ?

Have you added any extra ones in ?

Have you tried starting up in Safe Mode? This disables any Startup items and is worth trying to see if you can boot up to the desktop.
