Hey Guys,

I have a 2009 (I think) 13" MBP. It runs VERY HOT when running games or even just playing HD video. I could fry an egg on this thing. I have installed smcfancontrol, but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick. According to SMC, it's running at 175 degrees Fahrenheit right now. Its almost dangerous to the touch. Anything wrong? It NEVER used to run this hot, especially when just playing HD video.

Edit: Also, when it runs very hot, performance of video or game gets terrible.

when did it start doing this?

Check Activity Monitor to see what else it taking processor cycles.

Literally a week ago. And nothing else is really going on in activity monitor... I could do a fresh restart or restart on bootcamp and immediately lose FPS once it heats up or hiccup video with just the game or just the movie playing.

If you haven't installed any software or updates then it sounds like its time to take it to an Apple Service Centre near you.
