MAcBook AIr sound control

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) OS Sierra 10.12.6

Volume controls do not work at all. Hitting any of the 3 keys does nothing. Is there anything I can do other than take to the Apple store?

Do any of the other function keys work normally - brightness, Mission Control, etc.?
