I need to move a bunch of files from Mac to Mac (30GB). I tried to use firewire; same room, 8 feet.
Files are on Mac Mini with OSX 10.5.8 Target is older mac with OSX 10.4.11
Target Mac will go into Target mode. Firewire is connected physically on both ends but I can't verify electrical... Source mac does not recognize the target Mac. Ideas?
Thanks,

Appreciate the response, but I don't know what is meant by a "FireWire ethernet connection". What is it and how could it help?

What type of Mac is the Target Mac?

Have you tried reversing the order and making the Mac Mini the Target ? It should still work out how you want it to.

You should still be able to transfer the files both ways regardless of which is the Target, as long as both Macs meet the specifications for Target Disc Mode.

Do you have any other FireWire devices connected ?

I use my only "normal" firewire connection on the Mac Mini for Internet cable... always fine there... don't use firewire on the eMac. When I try the Mac to Mac, I physically remove the Internet connection to the Mac Mini
