Mac OS 10.4.11 menu/file names all "A"s?

I have all A's in my menubars, drop downs and file names. I am trying to function by memory and key commands (which work) but I don't know why or how this is happening. I have an iBook G4 running 10.4.11.

The only thing I can narrow it down to is when I synced my iphone last, this happened soon after.

HELP!
