Mac mini with macbook cds

Hello. I have a mac mini which i have recently formatted for several reasons. Not least because Safari, iTunes etc etc had stopped working! Re-installed with accompanying grey discs but the second one was so sratched it would not load(10.4.2, AHT 1.1, Disc version 1.0. I have borrowed two new cds but from a new mac book. Will they work? And if so how do i start from the beginning again, because at the moment i am only able to insert the 2nd cd, no other options, which doesn't work as it is not from my original pair?????????;) Tom! Also i don't have a mac keyboard!!
