Mac Mini external sound issue

I have a logitech subwoofer with dual speakers plugged into the sound jack of my mac mini. When I shut it down for the night, and turn it on in the morning the sound is only coming from the built in speaker, not the external speakers. I have to unplug and re-plugin the cord for the sound to come from the external speakers. Will updating the os to Sequoia possibly solve this issue?.
