Mac Mail Problem

Hi
I have iPad air and iPhone 5S as well as Mac mini
2 issues -
1 mail does not sync between devices even tho set up is imap
2 on IOS devices i keep getting message that it cannot get mail and either password or username are wrong and i am referred to Settings. However, mail is always getting through, almost as the message comes up sometimes. i have checked all the settings and they are correct. with OS on Mac mini this does not occur and mail comes through very smoothly.
I have other mail accounts linked into the mail app.
any help appreciated

Hello.

Since the issue seems to only occur on the iOS devices:
-What version of iOS?
-Who is the email provider?
Have you tried deleting the account, then re-adding it on one of the iOS devices to see if that corrects the issue?

hi sent a direct reply to your email but later ecru a notice that the mailbox is only one way
email is ntl world, now virgin media
no not deleted the account so far
will await your advice re mail provider before i talks further action
