My Mac has slowed down a tad, but not like it is now, the BBoD keeps running almost constantly every time I click on anything to work. apps, included. It is major sensitive. Everything takes at least 5 minutes to run or open, as it has to think and think, and then it will open. Just downloaded etrecheck., and will try to install that and see if I can make it work. Have a 1 T HDD drive. older model 2010 with Hi Sierra running as update as I can get. Cannot update any further, but I would just like my mad to run smoothly and fast again. Might I have a bug in my system?

Hello,
  • Is it an iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010) or iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010)?
  • How much free disk space is left?
  • Are you running any third-party utilities like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, or antivirus?
  • Does it happen with all applications, or more often with web browsers like Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.?

I have exactly the same problem IMac late 2009. Someone suggested it is likely to be past it. I am so frustrated at the slow speed. I tend to turn it off and then restart - I am not sure if that is good/right but that does make it slightly more responsive.

I just recently cleared a similar problem for a friend – running VERY slow, and jerky. I copied all her data files to an external disk. Then I erased and reinstalled the OS (13.6 High Sierra). Now it runs beautifully fast and smooth. A lot of the disk was fragmented or otherwise spoken for
