I have a 4 year old Mac Book 250GB. Memory is too full to update to Mountain Lion. I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

I purchased a Time Casule 2TB yesterday and tried to back up the whole system. Over 24 hours the back up was interupted by the message that the back up was stopped as I had a disc problem. I went to disc Utility and actioned "Repair disc permisions" several times and also "Verify Disc. The back Up started again only to be stopped with the same message hours later. Frustrating!!!
24 hours later my back up has failed.
When I go into the Time capsule to see what is there I get the following:
MacBook.sparsebundle - I click on this and get - "The following disk image could'nt be opened" and "Mabook Resource temporarily unavailable"
Can anyone help. Its supposed to be easy. Attach - set up - and away it goes.
Not so. What am I not doing or what am I doing wrong?

Hi,

I believe this issue relates to a extremely full disk, you could try copying say 50-70 GB to another external HD and deleting from the Mac then trying to backup again.
