Mac App store and Mountain Lion

I need to download the OS X Mountain Lion software but do not have the App store on my Mac OS X version 10.5.8. What should I do? The reason why I need to do that is because I recently bought an iphone 4s and tried to download my music from my mac to my phone but got an error saying i needed to download a new version of itunes. I tried to do that but got an error saying the software requires a Mac OS V version or 10.6.8 or later. Please help!!

Hi Jess, other may know better than me, but why not go into the apple website and download it from there, that's what I did
