SOLVED Lost space

I store videos on an external hard drive.
It has recently approached full capacity so I have deleted a heap of files yet the drive still shows as being nearly full.
How do I recover the free space ?

Man, you must have a ton of videos! Myself, I do have quite a lot of both Movies and TV Series. Recently I purchased this external 1 TB SSD:

I made 3 partitions on it: one of them, about 140 gig (probably too much), is for eventual Big Sur testing. The other 2, each of size 430 gig, contain my Movies on one, and my TV series on another. But there is still some space on each of those partitions.

Is that the only location of your video files? I suspect it is, given how large it is. Is just about the entire 3 TB taken up by videos?

-Do you have another drive that the videos are backed up to?
-What process did you use to clear free space - did you move some videos to the Trash, then empty the Trash?

"YOU ARE A GENIUS" !!!
Called up the 3TB drive (still showing only 64GB available) and emptied the Trash, got all my space back.
