I recently was trying to transfer a file (player.lua) from one account to another. I went into sharing inside of system preferences and checked file sharing. there were three public folders, one in each account on my macbook. So, I went into my hardrive (macintosh HD) then went into users, and dropped the file into another accounts folder (bailey). So, then I logged into bailey and dragged it from that folder, onto my desktop. And when I did, it dissapeared and I can't find it anywhere, i have tried file recovery programs and none of them seem to work. Please help me! I spent a lot of time on that file and I need it!D:

When you placed it into the other accounts folder, was the file copied or moved? It sounds like it was actually moved, is that right? Have you tried a Spotlight search, from within both accounts ?

What Mac OS X version? What type of file did you lose? I don't recognise the type ... Was there any folder nearby to where you dropped it onto the desktop? Have you tried enabling the showing of invisible files?

Have you restarted your Mac since this happened?

Have you tried Relauching Finder?

Have you tried searching in your spotlight>show all in finder for the extension of that file? Search: .txt maybe? You'll prolly have to sift through many files with the same extension, but, I done that once and I found my file.
