I have Macbook 2008. Recently, when sending emails, I have noticed this is done in absolute silence - no whoosh. I miss my whoosh, how can I get it back? I have searched through sounds but none of the items relate to sending things out with a whoosh...

Need to know:

1. What exact Mac model?

2. What exact Mac OS are you running?

3. What EMail program?

A couple of more questions, along with some suggestions:

1. Have you ever done any disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs, from a software perspective? You actually can do a good amount of disk cleanup on your own, and there are some excellent programs available (both free and commercial) that can assist you in those efforts. Along with that, how much free space is on your internal drive?

2. This is critical: are you making backups to an external device?

3. Do you have the latest version of Mail for Lion?

4. Here are some free programs you can download to clean some things out:

Onyx - https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html (make sure you get the correct version, which is V2.4.8)

AppCleaner - https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/ (again, make sure you get the correct version, which is V2.3)

GrandPerspective - http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/ (again, make sure you get the correct version, which is V1.7)

First ensure that you don't have your sound muted in System Prefs ~> Sound & you don't have earphones plugged into the Audio line-in port.

Go into Mail Preferences ~> General Tab & change the New Message Sound to "None" then uncheck "Play sounds for other mail actions". Then quit Mail. Relaunch Mail, go back into Preferences make the opposite changes to before ie: change sounds to "new messages sound" & check "Play sounds for other mail actions", then quit Mail again & then relaunch it.

Let us know if this restores the Mail Sent sound.

Excellent, informative post, Spawn_Dooley. Hopefully your "road map" will resolve the issue. But the op should still perform disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs, from a software perspective, backups, and download the programs I suggested.
