Lost internal speakers

New MacBook Pro OS X 10.5.1
2 GB Ram
I am a new user from PC to Mac

The headphones work but there is no choice for internal speakers.
Lost them on Saturday after playing with projector mirror and plugging in other monitors. I only get the boot up sound out of the speakers. Volume control is visible but not usable both in setting and top of monitor.

I only see under preferences, sounds, Output,:
Digital Out Built in output
The selected device has no output controls.

Hi rick.

I assume that you will of figured out this problem already considering its been two years since you posted!

I have just had the same problem as well. Do you have any advice on how to fix this?

Hello, reconnect the headphones, wiggle and turn the headphone's jack around a bit, disconnect the headphones, then try the internal speakers.

I have had this problem and indeed, plugging in a headset and then unplugging it solved the issue.
