I have a Mac Pro 2008 2.1 with a modified boot so it can run on 10.11.6 El Capitan, and I run time machine on a separate hard drive. It’s been brilliant but I’d like to upgrade.
I’d like to buy a Mac Pro 2009/10 that has been upgraded to 5.1, that is high spec running on Big Sur.
The idea is, When I get the Mac Pro 5.1, I plug in the USB time machine hard drive that was running on my modified 2.1 and boot the new 5.1, then to my thinking, then 5.1 machine would be a “clone” of my 2.1.
If that would work, and the 5.1 is running El Capitan, I would then be able to upgrade the OSX to Big Sur because I’d know the hardware will do it, and I can also upgrade all the program’s, Logic Pro, FCPX, etc etc.
What do you think?
Thank you for reading this and any feedback back would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
