I have the feeling the answer is embarrassingly obvious, but how do I remove an icon from the Launch Pad (Mountain Lion OS)?

I've removed the underlying app, but the icon simply doesn't want to leave.

Much thanx.

Hi,

Hold the mouse over the Icon till it shivers then click the X.

But If this fails there is an app called launchpad - control. I had real issues with Skype back running SL, as every time it updated I got another Skype Icon showing in lauchpad ended up with 3. The LPC app lets you dictate what you acutely see in launchpad.
If interested here is a link on MacUpdate.

Just a reminder, If you delete the "Icon" from Launch Pad you are deleting the App. It is not like the Dock which has shortcuts to the App, you can delete Dock Icons with no lasting consequences.

Much thanx. LaunchPad-Control hides the icon but doesn't remove it or delete the underlying app.

The developer is no longer supporting it, but it worked (that is, my MAC did not explode, which, after 32 years of using PCs, is how I measure success).
