Dear all readers,

Is it true that it is impossible to attach a .NUMBERS file (or .PAGES file) as such - without converting it - to a mail (tread) exchange within this forum? Maybe it is even a more general issue?

Thanks for your answers, Dirk

Hello,

Correct...because iWork documents are actually a "package" file, this forum software doesn't recognize their extension type. You can either compress the Pages/Numbers file into a ZIP archive to upload it, or export the file to a Word/Excel/PDF file and post it.

Hope that helps.

Just sent a .pdf version to a well known forum member (Lufbrarunner) who had an Idea on how to fix the problem. Thanks, Cora! I understand my problem was not so exceptional at all. Dirk

Hi Cory,

I have a question for future reference. I use the latest version of LIbreOffice, and I am wondering what version of Excel files does this site accept? There are a number of formats I can use to save such a Calc (LIbreOffice's Spreadsheet module) document.

Hi,

I am not sure what versions the forum actually accepts. But, you can always archive/ZIP file types other than images/PDFs, and attach/upload them that way.

While that's an acceptable solution, would prefer to choose an appropriate version of Excel to save the Calc spreadsheet as. That to me would be cleaner.

The choices I have are:

Excel 2007-365 (.xlsx)
Excel 2007-365 Template (.xltx)
Excel 97-2003 (.xlsx)
Excel 97-2003 Template (.xlt)
Excel 2007-365 (macro enabled) (.xlsm)

There are other choices available, but those are the ones that specifically say Excel.

OK,

Excel 2007-365 (.xlsx) is the most recent and compatible with all versions of Excel since 2007. But as I mentioned, I am not sure if that file type can be uploaded to this forum software. A zipped archive of it for sure, which can always be downloaded, unzipped, and will retain theat file format perfectly.
