Keystroke to start Word or Google search

all suggestions appreciated. I have searched here, and Google, textbooks, and ask friends. There were several YouTube instructions, but no go.
I need keystrokes because I have a tremor which makes using the touchpad difficult. If somebody can point me in the right direction how I can use Automator to Record a keystroke to start Word or Google search, I would be very grateful.

ps I am using high Sierra running on a MacBook Pro mid 2012.
