Keychain is a very important part of OSX, shouldn't be disabled, or do you mean its opening on login?

It will not retain the password and every time I use the computer a message keeps popping up that I have to put in a password. Granted, it's the same one every time. Guess I don't know how to save it. Can anyone help?

It is not only opening at login but continues to request password as I change applications.

Have you ever changed your login password for the Mac? If so, that can make the Keychain become out of sync and continually request passwords.

-If you enter a password in the box, does it take it, or does it immediately request it again?
-What do you mean by "continues to request password as I change applications."? Do you mean when opening different applications, or when using applications that use passwords like Mail, Safari, etc?
