Keyboard problems.

I replaced my wireless keyboard with an Apple wired keyboard. Everything was working okay until this morning when we had a power cut. Switched the computer back on and the keyboard wouldn't work. Unplugged the USB cable and followed the Mac instructions to install the keyboard. I went into preferences and tried to change the type of keyboard but it wouldn't let me. I had to reinstall the wireless keyboard so that I can type this S.O.S thread.
Can someone tell me what to do so that I can get the wired one working? Thanks

You should not need to do anything to get a wired keyboard working. You plug them in and the they work.

Well I plugged it back in and it is now working??!!!!!
Lets hope I don't have any more power cuts.
