keyboard&mouse in system prefs

i'm running Leopard on an old powerpc powerbook. I cant get keyboard and mouse settings to save a key assignment. any ideas?

Can you give as much information as possible steveray100. specific Mac model and particularly about the key assignment ... otherwise we have to guess too much.

Fixed it. It was just a setting on another program conflicting.
