I seem to be using up keyboard batteries at an alarming rate. Question: When I put the iMac onto "Sleep", is the keyboard automatically shut off, so that no battery power is being used? It's the only explanation I can think of. Am I supposed to turn off the keyboard (i.e., at the keyboard) every time I shut down the computer?

If you have an apple keyboard and you are putting your imac into sleep for more than a day or 2 then I would turn off the keyboard.
Depending how much you use your keyboard and its age will have a determining factor on how often it needs charging.
On average the keyboard should last about 3 to 4 weeks if you are using your computer for 8 hours or less a day.
