is there an easier to tile windows side by side rather than going to the little green button and selecting tile window left or right?
is thee a hotkey or shortcut where I can just click on a window to tile?

also does mac have the ability to layer windows so I can have multiple windows open that are layered on top of each other?

You could try Rectangle.app from

It’s free and you can upgrade to the Pro (paid) version if you need more features.

if i drag a window to the side or corner it tiles the window. however as soon as I click another app the first window disappears.
how do I make the window that I resized or tiled to the right stay in place while I go grab another app?

You probably need to adjust the settings for Stage Manager. Open System Settings -> Desktop & Dock, and you will see the section for Desktop & Stage Manager. Turning off the selector for Stage Manager will keep all open windows on the screen instead of pushing inactive ones to the side. I believe Stage Manager was introduced with macOS Ventura, so if you are running an older version, it will not be available.
