iPhoto Freezing up

I have a Mac...OX 10.5.8 running iPhoto 09. Everytime I try and open iPhoto it freezes, running the beach ball around and around. Can someone please advise? I'm not very tech-savvy

Home > Library > Preferences delete com.apple.iPhoto.plist

if that doesn't work
Hold down the Command and Option key then launch iPhoto, choose Repair.

Thank you for advise but
neither of those actions worked, still freezes up when it is opened

So you were able to get to the Repair Panel? but the Repair didn't fix the problem?

Yes I was able to click on the repair option. Took about 10 minutes then went to click on iPhoto again and still freezes. The only way I can get out of it is to force quit. Tried rebooting etc and still doesn't work.

What I would try next is ensure your iPhoto Library in the Pictures Folder is Fully Backed up.

The question we need to answer is the problem with the App or the Library?
Restart iPhoto with the Option key down and Make a new Library. Does that crash?
