IPhone 11 and USB Adapter

I'm getting ready to get an iPhone 11. Is the USB-C adapter cable the same as in a 2018 MacAir. I've read articles about this subject but can't figure it out.

But I still don't understand why an iPhone would it take a USB-C adapter cable. I use a USB-C cable on my MacAir 2018.
