SOLVED IPad 4th-gen (2012) (iOS 6.x) unknown passcode - options?

I just bought an iPad 4th-gen from eBay and it has a passcode on it.

I have messaged the seller and asked if they can remember it but if they cannot, what are my options?

If they don't remember it, then you basically have an iPad that is unusable.

Hi,

If it is just a passcode, you can put it in recovery mode and erase it when connected to a computer, that will clear the code. But, if they are signed into iCloud and have Find My enabled, there will be an activation lock that cannot be removed without the password. If you erase that, it will prompt for the iCloud account/password during setup, and not progress past that point rendering it unusable.

If you forgot your iPad passcode, use your Mac or PC to reset it
