After updating to IOS 17.5.1 my handsfree is not working properly. I have two handsfree, one microphone stops working after this update and the other one automatically disconnects after some time from the lighting port and shows the message that the connected device does not recognize.

Here are several steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Restart Your iPhone:
    • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
    • Press and hold the side button and either volume button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your iPhone. Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the side button again until the Apple logo appears.
  2. Check for Additional Updates:
    • Make sure your iPhone is running the latest software.
    • Go to Settings > General > Software Update to see if there are any additional updates available.
  3. Clean the Lightning Port:
    • Dirt and debris can sometimes cause connectivity issues.
    • Gently clean the Lightning port on your iPhone using a small, dry brush or compressed air to ensure there is no debris causing a bad connection.
  4. Check Headphone Compatibility:
    • Ensure that your headphones are compatible with iOS 17.5.1. Some older or third-party accessories might have compatibility issues with new iOS updates.
  5. Reset All Settings:
    • This will reset all system settings to their defaults but will not delete your data.
    • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
  6. Test with Different Headphones:
    • Test your iPhone with a different pair of Lightning headphones to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the headphones or the iPhone.
  7. Disable Bluetooth Temporarily:
    • Sometimes, Bluetooth devices can interfere with wired headphone connections.
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth and toggle Bluetooth off. Then test your headphones again.
  8. Check for App Interference:
    • Some apps might interfere with headphone functionality. Close all apps and then test your headphones.
    • Double-click the Home button or swipe up from the bottom of the screen (depending on your iPhone model) to open the app switcher, then swipe up on each app to close it.

Advanced Steps

  1. Restore iPhone via iTunes or Finder:
    • Back up your iPhone using iCloud or iTunes/Finder on a computer.
    • Restore your iPhone to factory settings and set it up as new. This can sometimes resolve persistent software issues.
    • Connect your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes or Finder, select your device, and choose Restore iPhone.

Contact Apple Support

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be a deeper software or hardware problem. Since the update might have caused the issue, contacting Apple Support for further assistance is recommended. They can guide you through additional troubleshooting steps or arrange for a repair if necessary.
