iomega screenplay director

Hi i recently bought an iomega screenplay director and was assured it would work on mac,however i can only get it to work on tv at the start,then i deleted some partitions in disk utility and was able to use it as a hard drive,but cant get it to do both tv and hard drive.I contacted iomega and after a load of try this and that they just said return it for a new one,which is a cop out.Can it work or not?all help appreciated!
