I just installed snow leopard (so I can upgrade to mountain lion) and now I have a Restore drive on my desktop. ?? I'm also trying to upgrade Safari and the install asking me to select a destination. When I choose my original hard drive I get an "this update requires Mac OS X version 10.6.8 - which I just installed. Ack! Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome,
now I have a Restore drive on my desktop. ??
Possibly go to Finder Preferences > General under where it says "Show these items on the Desktop", uncheck Hard Disks as my screen shot.
I'm also trying to upgrade Safari and the install asking me to select a destination.

If you have just installed SL then click the Apple top left of screen and choose software update from the menu. Do not understand why the update is asking for a destination. :(This is an update not new software install.
