You can save the screenshot to your drive, the clipboard, mail or open in preview. Apple has not made Save to photos an option as of yet.
To change how a screenshot is handled, you need to hit Command Option 5, and then a bar will show on the bottom of the screen. click on Options to change how screenshots behave.
